Leonard Korir One of 12 Men Who Have Broken Hour Mark Entered in IAAF World Half Marathon Championships

By Adam Kopet

Leonard Korir is in a position to challenge for a medal at Saturday's IAAF World Half Marathon Championships in Valencia, Spain.

There are 12 men in the field that have broken one hour for the half marathon. Korir accomplished the feat in November in the Delhi Half Marathon in India.

However, the favorite to win is Kenya's Geoffrey Kamworor, the two-time defending champion. Kamworor has made this race the goal of his spring campaign. He is coming off a strong 2017 that saw him finish sixth in the 10,000 meters at the IAAF World Outdoor Championships and win the New York City Marathon.

Both men's and women's races are slated for a late afternoon start in Valencia. Following the race live will not require Americans to get up early Saturday morning.
